The Lead-base Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting
Rule
(RRP)
is a federal regulatory program affecting anyone who
disturbs painted surfaces where lead may be present. Work done on
homes, schools or day care facilities built before 1978,
MUST be done by
firms Certified by the EPA and who have at least one RRP Certified
Renovator as an employee. To comply with the regulatory
requirements of this rule you must:
- Submit an application to the EPA to certify your
business/firm which has to be
renewed every 5 years.

At least one company employee must attend an 8-hour Renovator’s
Certification Course
and attend a Refresher Course every 5
years.

Certified Renovator Course students must demonstrate “hands on”
capability and pass
a written exam.

Provide owners, tenants and child-care facilities
with a copy of EPA’s lead hazard
information pamphlet,
“Renovate Right:
Important Lead Hazard Information for
Families, Child Care Providers and
Schools.”
